Buddy
Three years ago this month, I went to the Humane Society to see the Director about a joint venture with the Humane Society and our store, Pets and Friends.
Ms. Helms was busy at the moment, so while I was waiting I looked at all the animals waiting for adoption. As I approached the very last pen, I saw this black nose sticking out. I walked over and there was a beautiful Border Collie looking right at me. I did not need to understand the canine language to know he was saying "take me home with you". I called my wife and said, "Susan, I have found this dog." Without hesitation she replied, "bring him home".
A week later, we picked up this beautiful animal, changed his name from Homeless to Buddy, and brought him to live with us.
There are not enough words to tell you of the love and devotion he has brought to us in these past three years. He spends the days with us at the pet store and his evenings sleeping beside our bed.
Buddy has been an absolute "godsend" and we will always be grateful to the Humane Society of East Texas for being there for us.
